I'm Christy, a Registered Psychotherapist who works virtually with clients all across Ontario.

I'm here to provide a safe, supportive space for us to work collaboratively to reach your specific and unique goals for healing and wellness.
About Me.
I became a psychotherapist because I yearned to have a career that felt meaningful and interesting to me, where I could use the skills and experience I have as an emotional support to others, while also continuing to add to my knowledge and understanding of how we as humans function and behave.
I have a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I received EMDR training from the Niagara Stress and Trauma Center. I've also done additional training courses in clinical issues and treatment strategies for working with 2SLGBTQ+ clients, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and trauma-specific treatment modalities, like IFS and somatic experiencing.
With each client that I have worked with, I have learned the importance of developing an attitude of kind curiosity; while I may have the knowledge, skills and experience of working with various mental health and emotional issues, it is you who holds the wisdom of your own human experience. I like to think I provide the structure or blueprint, while you provide the materials and the labour necessary to build a safe "home" for yourself.
I use a client-centered approach, which means our therapy time is yours to focus on the issues that are a priority for you. I make it a practice to regularly check in with you to ensure we are on the right track, and that the time feels beneficial for you.

Specialties
I specialize working with 2SLGBTQ+ specific issues and C-PTSD/Trauma. Other issues I frequently work with: anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationship issues, neurodivergence, life changes/transitions, grief/loss and self identity/care/esteem issues.
Therapeutic Approach
My approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, and socio-culturally sensitive. I believe in developing a unique treatment plan that is specifically tailored for your needs, and is flexible to changes as you progress and move forward.
Services Offered
I offer traditional talk therapy sessions where we can explore various issues using a medley of approaches based on what feels best, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and Somatic approaches, and Internal Family Systems (parts work).
In addition to this, I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is a specialized trauma treatment found to be highly effective in helping the brain reprocess and heal from both simple PTSD as well as more complex and ongoing traumatic experiences.
